Songs by me
Two addresses where you can listen to / download songs I’ve written or just performed. Tumblr.com has more recent stuff and is where my “self-taught voice lessons” songs are kept. Mp3.com has my dad’s song, and “Oh Had I Jubal’s Lyre,” the fastest song i’ve ever done! Too bad I can’t do it again!
Oh Had I Jubal’s Lyre: A song by Handel about wishing I could show God through music the praise He truly deserves. Lyrics:
Oh Had I Jubal’s Lyre or Miriam’s tuneful voice
To sounds like his I would aspire, In songs like hers I would rejoice
My humble strains but faintly show how much to Heaven and Thee I owe.

The song called “It Was You” was written for my dad about 2 weeks after he passed. I just sat down for about an hour a day for a week or so and wrote down everything I could think of that was unique about my dad. It was good to put all of his amazing traits into words and eventually music. My friend, Adam Schilling volunteered to arrange the song for me, which was a huge blessing. Without him, this song would still just be on paper and in my head.
Here are the lyrics:
Teaching us the way
Knowing what to say
was you
Of Earth’s beauty you tasted
Time was never wasted
with you
How many nights will I lay down to sleep
Remembering all the memories I keep
with me
of you
Knowing every song
I know right and wrong
from you
Of your children watchful
And to strangers helpful
was you
was you
How many nights will I lay down to sleep
Rembering all the memories I keep
with me
of you
When I think on the life you made, I pray
God, blessed were the days of
laughing and learning to love life his way
All questions satisfied
No problem too wide
for you
Choosing paths unknown
Living a life not your own
For God
was you

That is a really beautiful song! I like it a lot. It made me get tears in my eyes. You know how un-emotional I am- so that’s saying something!
Thank you for sharing.
