Cleaning the bathrooms

I was talking to a friend on the phone today – as we were about to let each other go, I mentioned that I had to go clean the bathrooms.  She said that I should instead say, “I want to go clean the bathrooms.”  My response was, “but i don’t want to go clean the bathrooms.”  Then she reminded me that I DID want the bathrooms clean.  …yes, that’s true…  …I suppose I do want to go clean the bathrooms.  The change in wording actually did change my attitude towards the chore. I didn’t mind cleaning them because i really did want them to be clean.  So, lesson today is, when you are saying you “have to” or “ought to” do something, make yourself change it to “want to” and life becomes just that much better.

And now, I want to go see why Aria’s been so quiet for so long…
